Hello there! I recently chose to challenge myself with a 365-day streak on Github. Why would I do this? The prime reason was to bring back a drive to learn that I felt I was lacking and to build a routine that encourages better life choices. I made the decision to do this a couple of months back when I was cruising through Github and saw some of the users that contribute on a regular basis. I came to the conclusion that I wanted to reach some milestones in the programming world that these contributors were already at. My mentors advised me to approach this challenge with some goals in mind:
I also tried to use this streak to group a lot of different goals I had been postponing. For instance, I signed up for an Half Ironman later in the fall and I needed to start a routine to train for it. Also, I wanted to boost my reading up by reading at least one book a month. After a long days work, I found myself returning home, working out, doing chores, eating, and then watching TV until it was time for bed. As relaxing as this routine looks, I was unfulfilled, so I decided to change that. With things like this streak, Ironman training, one book a month, and writing this blog; I believe this emphasis on introspective thought is a great new thing for my life.
So for the remainder of my blog I will try and keep to group the tags into three categories:
So wish me luck, I will probably check back with you all after a 60-day streak with updates. If you enjoy the blog please retweet and forward it around. I am slated to have a lot of activity this year with getting married, starting a new job, and moving to a new city so I am in for a quite a ride over the next 365 days!
